Azyr the realm of heavens. known for its sprawling fields of floating stones, sentient storms that play across the starry night sky and above all true evidence of civilization. Azyr is the metropolitan heart of the realms and one of the few places not in the iron grip of Chaos, it once stood as the unintended capitol of the realms in the age of myth when the pantheon was united. It now stands as a lightning spewing bastion of order.
Once a mortal man, Sigmar united early humanity in the world that was and brought about an empire of knowledge and advancement. He came to be deified by his people and descendants leading to his apotheosis as a living god. When the end times came Sigmar fought back to maintain his world only to loose it all. He was set adrift in the atheric void sailing on the core of the old world until the star drake Dracothion bore him forth to the newly formed mortal realms. He spent the early days of the realms exploring and uniting tribes of humans, dwarfs and elves to craft villages, cities and civilizations. He took the Realm of Azyr for his own and set about creating an alliance that would attempt to stem the tide of chaos. This too would fail, but sigmar is still with his people, lending his strength to those who fight in his name, smiting those he can spare a bolt for and crafting armies of immortal Stormcasts to take back the realms for the mortals.
The magic of the Heavens is the art of astromancy, divination, seeing beyond sight and of course lightning bolts descending from the sky to rain holy destruction. Many practitioners of the Blue wind perceive it as a crackling blue cascade of lightning dancing high into the skies of the realms or even beyond them. As such most Celestial Wizards observe the stars, moons and alignment of certain astral bodies to glimpse the future or even to manipulate fate. Though interpreting their readings can often be as hard if not harder than collecting them. In its solid state Azyr becomes the realm stone Celestium which can act as a battery or focus, charged with the mystical energies of the celestial realm it can power devices, charge weapons with shocking fury or even act as a far seeing lens on a telescope. Overuse however tends to leave the user at a loss when plans change or become more detached claiming to “see the bigger picture”
Azyr is perhaps the most uncorrupted and most metropolitan of the realms, for centuries it was closed off from the other realms allowed to flourish and grow uninterrupted. Before the age of chaos Sigmar announced the closure of the gates of Azyr and mortals of all stripes and allegiances fled to the safety of the celestial realm. This makes Azyr the most diverse and most populated of the realms. Azurites are often considered haughty or high strung by the disperate cultures of the rest of the realms. They do however want to help restore order and civilization to creation as best they can but to them nothing will ever surpasses the majesty of azyr until all other realms resembles the seat of the God Kings power
