Early 2000's

By the early 2000's, skateboarding had established itslef as an official sport.Brands such as Nike and Addidas started to create skateshoes geard toward street fasion and new look for skateboarders to shred with such as Nike SB skate shoes released in 2002.

Skaters started to become celebrities from being showcased in the public eye through TV and internet. Professional skaters such as Rob Derek, releasing a show called Rob and Big, Tony Hawks pro skater series and previous X-game apperances help make skaters more of a celebrity and establish a larger fan base.

Late 2000's

In 2010, another major skate event was created by Rob Derek called Street League Skateboarding (SLS) to increase the popularity, growth, and accceptance of street skateboarding to the public just as the X-games had did with Vert-skating.

Currently skateboarding may be fluctuating in popularity but it is still loved, practiced, and cherished by many people internationally and is still an active sport. Now skaters are able to nget money other ways besides skateboarding such as creating thier own brands, endorsements etc. which relates to some of the decline in skateboarding.
