Directions and Parking

James Madison University is located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley in Harrisonburg, VA. Situated along Interstate 81, the campus is approximately a two hour drive west from Washington, DC and a four hour drive north from Charlotte, NC.

There are several hotels within a few miles of campus. We have reserved a block of hotel rooms at Hotel Madison, which is located on JMU's campus. This hotel is less than a five minute walk to the conference itself, and a short walk to the downtown area. The conference rate is $94 per night when you book by February 1, so we encourage you to make your reservations early! You can book directly through this link, visit their website (www.hotelmadison.com) and enter the Group Code MASON19, or call the hotel at 540-564-0200 and say you are with the group MASON.

The nearest airports are Shenandoah Valley Regional (SHD), 15 miles south of JMU, and Charlottesville-Albemarle (CHO), about an hour east of JMU. The nearest major airport is Dulles International (IAD), a two hour drive from JMU. From Charlottesville or Dulles, the most cost effective way to get to Harrisonburg would be to rent a car.

Parking: You can park for free in any Faculty/Staff spot (Levels 3-5) in the Mason Street Parking Deck (715 South Mason Street) starting at 4:30pm on Friday until 7:30am on Monday. Make sure you enter the deck from South Mason Street to access these levels! Do not park in spaces marked "Pay-by-space" or "Admissions Visitors".

(This also applies to any participants staying at Hotel Madison! The hotel has reserved spots on lower levels of the deck, but we believe there is some charge for using them. There is a covered walkway from parking to the hotel at the rear of Level 2.)

Conference location: All conference events will be held in Burruss Hall rooms 31 and 32 (in the lowest level of the building). It's a very short walk from both the Hotel Madison (head up Grace Street) or the Mason Street Parking Deck. (See the map.)
