The History
The net.art movement started in 1993 in internet circles from popular sites like "Alt-X". In 1995 the term "net.art" was used by a nettime initiator Pit Schultz as an exhibition title in Berlin. In this exhibition it included artists Vuk Ćosić and Alexei Shulgin. The term was later used as "net.art per se" which was a meeting of artists and theorists in Trieste, May 1996. This was a group of artists who worked together and gave birth to the website net.art per se.
