Hi everyone! My name is Ja’Lyn Hicks and I'm a senior at Towson University. I'm majoring in Art + Design with a concentration in Graphic Design and double minoring in Art History and Museum Studies.
I grew up in a small town called Centreville on the Eastern Shore. Growing up I loved doodling and playing with different creative mediums such as pottery and metal jewelry making. In the 4th grade, my mother signed me up for a painting class and that is when my full love dedication to art began. I still struggle with my confidence in what I produce and what I am good at, but I have learned at Towson that there are so many directions you can take with an art degree and that you never stop learning, developing, and shaping your skills. For three years I was a clarinetist for the Towson University Marching Band. This year I did not do band ,but I enjoy attending the football games and seeing my three amazing roommates perform in the color guard. During the off months of school, I am a framers apprentice at an incredible shop called The Finishing Touch.
In my free time I love spending time with friends and reading mystery novels. I have no freaking clue what I want to do when I graduate in the spring but…fuck it…life short who cares.
