What is Techno?

Techno music grew out of European electronic music from the 1970s and 1980s, becoming globally popular in the 1990’s. Techno music was greatly influenced by Kraftwerk and other artists who used electronic synthesizers and songs anchored around repetitive basslines and drumbeats. Techno music is now characterized by repetitive, hypnotic beats, synthesized sounds, and a focus on rhythm. It typically features a steady tempo, minimalistic elements, and a futuristic and mechanical feel.
