JODI (Joan Heemskerk and Dirk Paesmans)

JODI is known for their deconstruction of the web interfaces and software, challenging the use of the internet as a medium. They use websites, software, and code itself as artistic materials, exploring the aesthetic and cultural impact of technology on society. They create a playful and chaotic scene of the typical computer desktop interface "at the time". They deconstructed the desktop environment, turning it into a virus spread and add painful noises "in my opinon" experience that invited viewers to question their daily interactions with technology. Their work critiques both the aesthetics and functionality of the internet, transforming the user’s navigation of digital spaces into a complex and experimental artistic experience. JODI's contributions have made them influential figures in the net art movement, and their works have helped define the early days of web-based art.
