What is Minimalist Design?

A minimalist design is a design that only uses the most essential elements, including basic shapes and limited color palettes, to create something that's very simple yet memorable. The fewer elements there are within the composition to distract the viewer, the more likely they are to focus on the art or idea that is being showcased. Overall Minimalist graphic design is a philosophy of creating something where every element serves a specfic purpose. It is simple and clean. In visual arts, music, and other media, minimalism is an art movement that began in post–World War II. It is noted that artist artist Enrico Castellani is the father of minimalist art and is known for his monochromatic paintings. The word minimalism itself gained popularity amongst most groups of young artists in the 60s who were resisting the conventions of fine art. The same ideals moved its way into digital art and graphic design.
