Kama / Chagama / Kettle (釜)
A cast iron kettle for the preparation of green tea in tea ceremonies in a sunken hearth or atop a charcoal braizer.
Chasen / Tea whisk (茶筅)
These whisks are made out of bamboo to make the matcha powder into a creamy appearance. They come in a varity of styles depending the type of tea served at certain ceremonies.
Chashaku / Tea Scoop (茶杓)
For the perfect measurement of the green matcha powder, the host use chashakus to place the matcha into a Chawan.
Hishaku / Bamboo ladle
The host use a Hishaku for scooping heated water from a large kettle called Kama to the matcha powder.
Fukusa / Silk cloth (袱紗)
These cloths come in a variety of colors to clean the chashaku and other utensils during the tea ceremony and are used when the host and guests handle the chawan. The host will also tuck these cloths in the left side of their obi (kimono belt), but on right side when attending warrior class schools.
Chawan/ Tea Bowl (茶碗)
An important utensil to drink matcha green tea and is also known as a tea bowl. They come in a varity of shapes and sizes and may even change in design and thickness depending on the season.
