Artist of the Week:
Tré Seals
Tré Seals is a type designer, creative director and typographer from Baltimore, MD who develops fonts inspired by minority cultures and protest movements. He is also the founder of type foundry Vocal Type.
Rik Freeman
Rik Freeman is a local Washington D.C. based painter and muralist who has been painting murals since the late 80's. Much of his work focuses on the Black diaspora – including themes of Black history, community, resilience, joy and faith.
Alma Thomas
Alma Thomas was a teacher and abstract painter originally from Columbus, GA who later moved to Washington, D.C. along with her family to search for greater educational opportunities and relief from racial violence in the South. Alma was best known for her beautiful and rich patterned paintings. She was also a Howard University graduate in the fine arts program.
Keyonna Jones
Keyonna Jones is a multi-talented Washington, D.C. native best known for her "Black Lives Matter" pavement mural in the streets of D.C. to celebrate the BLM movement. The city officials had enlisted numerous local artists, including Keyonna, to paint the meaningful mural. Keyonna is also known for other great things: she's an entrepreneur, has a background in journalism and a Master's degree in Science Management, and she's the founder of Congress Heights Arts and Culture Center (CHACC) powerful hub for innovation and creativity in Southeast, D.C.
Michael Kirby
Michael Kirby is street artist from Baltimore, MD who is best known for his incredible 3D interior, exterior and street mural paintings and chalk art. He is the founder of art studio Murals of Baltimore, which showcases all of his outstanding work. He has painted in several countries and is the first American artist to win all the major European Street Painting Festivals, and was named a Maestro Madonnaro in Italy and Master Strassenmalerie in Germany.
Nether410
Nether is street artist from Baltimore, MD whose extensive body of public works spanning across the native city. His work is recognized as a social and cultural documentarian of the struggles, history, aspirations, and dilemmas that our cities' face. His quest can be seen as an attempt to help refuel and engage the landscape, bring out the city’s pride, and capture the poetic chaos that defines BMORE.
Megan Lewis
Megan Lewis is a versatile artist based in her hometown, specializing in painting, mural art, and furniture design. She earned her BFA in Illustration from the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida (2011). She is best known for her Ravens Mural done on a big wall in Colombia, MD for the "Paint the State Purple" mural program."
