Who we are

The Geomatics Academy is a non-profit after-school program funded through the MHEC 'College Preparation Intervention Program', in conjunction with the Maryland Board of Education 'GEAR-UP Focus on Math' program, which is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Education.

Martin Roberge

Marty is in charge of the various environmental portions of the program. He is an associate professor of Geography at Towson University.

Linda Cooper

Linda is the leader of the Geomatics Academy. She is an assistant professor of Mathematics at Towson University.

Paporn Thebpanya

"Bee" is in charge of the GPS (Global Positioning Systems) portion of our program. She is an assistant professor of Geography at Towson University.

Virginia Thompson

Virginia is a specialist in urban and population geography. She has a long interest in improving mathematics instruction across the curriculum, and has worked as a volunteer mathematics tutor in her neighborhood public schools.

Ming Tomayko

Ming is in charge of the career preparation and program assessment. She is an assistant professor of Mathematics at Towson University.

Felice Shore

Felice is a mathematics educator. For the past three years she has been the Director of the Calverton Middle School / Towson University Partnership.

Ameerah Bello

Ameerah is the Fairmont Heights GEAR-UP site coordinator, and is also in charge of student recruitment. She is an administrator at Fairmont Heights High School.

John Morgan III

"Jay" is in charge of the GIS (Geographic Information Systems) portion of our program. He is a full professor of Geography at Towson University.
