EyeMend Darning Embroidery Patching

Welcome to EyeMend

Welcome to EyeMend, a website all about visible mending! Visible mending is not only a creative way to personalize your clothes, but also to recycle them.

Each year 92 million tons of textile waste is produced. From their production to their retirement, clothes produce tons of waste. We can prevent excessively adding to that waste by following the classic reduce, reuse, and recycle model. Reduce the quantities of clothing you buy, try looking for well-made products that last longer and won't need to be thrown out as fast. We can reuse our clothes by passing them down to siblings or donating them to goodwill or other donation stores. We can recycle by donating textile drop-off points to be recycled into other products. Sometimes used as insulation, or stuffing rather than being thrown into the landfills.

If your clothing rips, or becomes worn, rather than throwing them away, they can be mended and reused! Mending reuses resources, which lowers the needs of production, creating less waste. It saves the energy and resources required to make new products, and makes your clothing more distinctive!

Some clothes you may not want to be visibly mended, if its a suit for a professional setting, or a monochromatic sweater. But there are still ways to mend invisibly! They are harder and require more techniques and practice, but its still worth it to try!

Visible mending is a way to personalize your clothes, save the environment, and practice creativity. Types of visible mending involve Darning, Embroidery and Patching. Give it a try!
