Signs Everywhere
Gas stations put signs up everwhere letting customers know if they were rationing. .
Too Many People,
Not enough Gas.
Too many people filling up at once led to widespread panic. During this time, gas stations had lines of cars wrapped around the blocks. To keep some sense of order, some places would signal if they had gas or not by utilizing flags—green if they had gas, red if they didn’t and yellow if they were rationing.
