The son of Lewis Charles Tiffany who famously founded Tiffany & Co, decided to create his own path in the decorative arts through stained glass. Louis then went on to found the Tiffany Studios in 1885. The studio was famous for stained glass, mosaics, and lamps. The studio which was located in Corona Queens became inactive in 1930. The most famous product of the studio was the Tiffany Lamps with all other pieces still being considered high-value rare items. Many additional pieces can still be seen at the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of of American Art.

John La Farge

John La Farge

Born in New York City John La Farge was largely celebrated for his innovations in stained glass. He patented the use of Opalescent glass which was never used in stained glass creations. This invention created a rivalry with Louis Comfort Tiffany after John La Farge introduced him to the new glass. John La Farge had other works in murals, watercolors, and books. Some of his work took influence from Japanese art and many of it is showcased in churches in the United States.

Lowndes & Drury

Lowndes & Drury starting in 1897, was established by Mary Lowndes and Alfred John Drury. The studio workshop space was created in Chelsea to support up and coming artists from the Arts and Crafts Movement. These artists used to studio space to work on stained glass commissions. Mary Lowndes used the studio for her own pieces of work which can be seen at churches in Wales and England.
