The bizarre animal contortionist... that's what I dub this artist as, at least. Bruno Pontiroli, a highly skilled oil painter, is one who is known for his excellence in accurate animal anatomy. He uses those skills to showcase bizarre compositions that defy the rules of logic, reason and sense.
This is the kind of piece that just gets more and more obscure as you look closer at it… You find yourself asking more questions like “why is that pig glued to the shark’s back? Wait, is that a corkscrew dolphin? What’s up with the crucifix way back in the middle??” Nothing has a defined meaning, it just looks crazy for the sake of looking crazy, and there’s nothing wrong with that!
While this one isn’t as subtle with all of it’s absurd details like the first one, you can’t discredit it for it’s weirdness… One thing that struck me the most about this piece is how vast and barren the world around them is. It almost makes what they’re doing feel natural if it’s on an alien planet that this is taking place on.

I’m not sure if I’m reaching for straws here, but I notice a scarf on the snowman’s neck as well while the ones around him don’t have one. Could it be possible that snowmen given love from a human are then given the same internal organs as humans, too??
