Styles of Dance

Ballet

If you like feeling strong but elegant at the same time, then ballet is the style for you. It has a way of transforming strict technique into gracefulness. In this this class you will learn flexibility and balance, by practicing at the barre and in center floor. As your experience increases, you will become well versed in the French terminology. Before you know it you will be turning and leaping all over the place.

Jazz

When most people think jazz they jump right to the popular style of Fosse. In actuality jazz dance dates back to the late 1800’s, where it was described as a loose-limbed style close to the ground. Jazz has become a generic style to practice basic technique, other than the technique you learn in ballet. This style is a looser format where the technique is not as stressed or forced. With a smooth beat your body will be able to engulf the music more intensely. You’ll be able to show off your personality throughout your movement.

Tap

Hear the instructor’s shoes tapping, as they count you in with a 5, 6, 7, 8. Tap will have you making your own beat, with or without music. The class will move as one big percussion. Moving your feet in ways you never thought possible. From your heels making your bass, to your toes hitting that tempo. Tap will help you find the rhythm inside of you, by letting your feet make the music.

Hip Hop

Uprock, breaking, locking, roboting, boogaloo, and popping are just a few ways to describe the movement of hip hop. The more than 50 year old style of dance, has been on high demand in the dance world. Bring your street style to life, or mix it up by adding other styles to it. Hip hop has no rules; you create as you move. This style is not just meant for the classroom, take what you learn and use it for any dancing occasion.
