• The project must be an extension to our previously created site on https://wpstudents.towson.edu (Public Web Home Page and Recipe Assignments). The project should be under its own menu item. Since it will consist of more than one page, it should have a main menu item/page reflecting a title of the project, and all additional pages should be drop-down menus (sub-menus) to this main menu.
• It should also be in proper order somewhere after the Home Page. There a several ways to accomplish this, some may be a bit more elegant than others, but any workable solution to create a drop-down (sub-menu) for the project is fine. Below are some starting points on how to accomplish this:
  • From the Dashboard, select Appearance / Menus. Notice the tile to the right named Menu structure. Here you can click and drag your pages to where you would like them to appear in your menu.  Select Select Display Location: Primary, then select Save Menu when you are finished. Note: In addition to drag menus to different positions, we can also create menus to be sub-menus of other menus by dragging them slightly to the right of another menu item.

• there should be no "empty" menu items (menu items without content)

Custom feature

• Utilizing what you learned from your previous assignments, incude one feature on your website such as an original image (if using a photo it must be manipulated/edited), a site logo, image header, sound clip, gif, etc. Be creative!
• the custom feature should directly relate to the content of your website and build upon what you have learned throughout the semester.

• We learned about website accessibility this semester, think about what makes a site easier to navigate and use as a visitor. Some examples:
  • image title and alternate text for images, make sure to use both (easy check: mouse over the image in a browser and verify that the text is displayed)
  • photo captions
  • automatic resizing for mobile displays (easy check: in a broser window make your browser window very narrow and check if the navigation collapses (most likely to the "hamburger" menu version)
  •  various text sizes, easy for user to switch to larger/smaller text
  •  intuitive navigation (is it easy for the user to find their way around the site)

  Submitting your project

  1. Access Blackboard and login.
  2. Select Discussions
  3. Select the Term Project discussion.
  4. If you like, browse the other messages.
  5. Enter your message in the Response Field
  6. Message:The following information is required in the message field
     • the formal title of your term project
     • a short description of your project and explanation why you selected the topic
     • post your Home Page URL as a clickable link
       • Add a hyperlink to your message: Click on the chain link in the editing options
       • Type your link in the Link URL field of the editing box that appears (example: https://wpstudents.towson.edu/jstude1). Don't worry about the other fields, they will be filled automatically.
     • list the (at least four) advanced technical features you implemented
     • list the custom feature and the software you used to create it
     • list your web accessibility features (at least 3)
     • Share something about your work. What were your experiences creating this project?.
  7. Your message and hyperlink (URL) should now show in the response field.
  8. Press respond
  9. Check your work
