The eastern dragon is a popular symbol of Chinese culture. Unlike western dragons, eastern dragons, or lung/long, are a symbol of wisdom and benevolence. They also represent good luck and great fortune. Eastern dragons are also closely associated with the chinese emperors, said to be the protectors of royalty and the heavens. Eastern dragons are not necessarily bad nor are they good, that are seen as neutral and wise beings of great power.

The anatomy of the eastern dragon is very complex. In short, they are a mash-up of many different animals. Traditionally, they have the head of a camel, the horns of a deer, the eyes of a demon, the ears of a bull, the neck of a snake, the belly of a clam, the scales of a carp, the claws of an eagle, and the paws of a tiger.

In todays society, the eastern dragon is still a very important symbol in chinese culture. The mythical creature is still celebrated with on holidays like Chinese New Year. The dragon still appears on modern day jade necklaces as well as artwork displayed in some homes. Like other mythical creatures, the eastern dragon is seen in various modern media such as video games and shows.
