I am Donnoy Morgan born and raised here in Baltimore, but my parents are from Jamaica. Here at Towson University, I am studying Graphic Design. My introduction to Graphic design was in high school and from there I grew a passion. I wasn’t the best at drawing, but I love the idea of creating digitally and either printing on merchandise or poster.
I transferred from CCBC in 2022. At first, I was going from Graphic Design to Art Education. However, I have a strong dislike for testing and so I switched back to Graphic Design. That said, I must take this class to graduate this semester. I am familiar with coding; I’ve taken many courses from CCBC till now. While I take this class, I hope to learn how to code inside Wix studios to make unique effects and strengthen my skills for clientele.
Outside of studies I work part time on and off campus. I am a mentor for high school students, and a front desk associate. If you are not catching me in class or at work, then I am most definitely found working in the print lab or with my student organizations. I am the president of Towson University Design Organization; we are for student who have an interest in design or is a student in the BFA. In TUDO we have study halls, critique nights and sometime some fun activities throughout the semester. Alongside TUDO, I am the co-founder of a new organization called Urban Artrepeneurs. In Urban Artrepreneurs we are geared for minority students who have creative passions and want to have the time dedicated to build their entrepreneurial skills.
As graduation approaches it’s crazy to see how much I have grown and with growth I learned my true purpose and mission. I learned that there is more to graphic design than making aesthetics posters and merchandise. We are the key to solving puzzles and finding visual ways to communicate a variety of messages. After undergraduate studies I plan to attend graduate school and get an MFA in Design Studies. With Graphic Design I hope to do work the revolves around social and/or political issues. I am big on community involvement and uplifting everyone one step at a time.
