Hello, my name is Alex Hammond. I previously got my associates degree from CCBC for graphic design in 2022 and then transferred to Towson to continue studying for a bachelors degree in graphic design. The reason why I started studying graphic design is because I initially enjoyed to draw since a kid and create images by hand but soon evolved into trying out digital tools to create compositions that represented my ideas. During my senior year of highschool, I didn't know which career path to go into because I couldn't figure out how I could make a guaranteed stable career from being a painter or graphite artist. So, I decided to look into more career options with art or design. I then ended up getting insight of career paths within the art and design field where you can create art and design using digital software, which led me into graphic design.
The reason I am taking WWW2 is because It is required to take as a follow up from WWW1, even though coding isn't my favorite class or strong point, I want to grow and get better with it so I can have the skills to design my own website for my future design business or job that requires web design skills. This semester I just want to get better with css and html, learning how to stylize content effectively. Outside of class I will be rollerskating or watching anime for fun. I dont work currently right now, but I am a trumpet player for a church in Baltimore city and I get payed to play each sunday which is cool. I am originally from Charlottesville, Virginia but moved to Maryland in 2015.
The collection of artists being featured in my art exhibition are Dirk Dzimirsky, Gregory Thielker, and Denis Peterson. These artists create "Hyperrealism" works which are categorized by capturing every detail and blemish of the object or subject within a photo but incorporates an underlying emotion or feel the the artist is trying to convey to the viewer, apart from just creating a realistic rendering of a photo.I will be showcasing their paintings/charcoal drawings/graphite drawings, each representing their hyperrealistic interpretation of their subject matter. The exhibition will be held at the Towson University Arts gallery. The color pallet I am thinking about using are a mixture of blue,grey,and white.
