Net Art

Art made for the internet

What is Net Art?

Net Art can be traced back to the mid 1990's, and can be described as the "fusion between technology and creativity." Net Art can also be described as extremly unique, no net art piece is the same, as each artist has the freedom to explore and create to their imagination's extent. The only thing that net art pieces have in common are their "exclusive use of the internet as a medium." A unique aspect of net art is it's ability to reach an audience anywhere in the world, since it's on the Internet it can reach international audiences. Net Artists are able to merge a variety of media forms such as: "text, imagery, sound, animations", and encourages interactivity!

What is ASCII Art?

ASCII art is a form of computer text art that uses the American Standard Code for Information Interchange. For example: emoticons like :) or :( are examples of ASCII Art. ASCII Art can be as basic as a few dots and dashes to artists incorporating heaving characters such as the "#" symbol for shading parts of their image.
