Mainstream Frutiger Aero visuals began to appear in late-2004. This is where the aesthetic became popular within many User Interfaces (UI) including the Windows Media Player 10, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation Portable. It became even more popular from 2005-2006 with the release of Windows Vista Beta 1, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii.
By 2007 Frutiger Aero was established as the common aesthetic for interfaces, appearing in the release of Windows Vista and the first iPhone, overtaking the Y2K Futurism aesthetic. Its humanistic tech and typefaces were more accessible for wider audiences.
From 2007-2012 is considered Frutiger Aero’s prime, where its influence could be found in most advertising, media, and technology releases.
It began to fade in 2012 with the introduction of Windows 8 and the failure of the Wii U (the last videogame console to favor the Frutiger Aero aesthetic).
